Water & Sanitation

Overview

Access to clean water and proper sanitation is a basic human right. Kamiel Group of Kenya is addressing this critical need in Langas Slums through community-led borehole projects, toilet construction, and hygiene education.

These interventions promote good health, school attendance, and protection—especially for girls.

Clean Water Projects

  • Drilled and installed boreholes within walking distance of Sower Education Centre

  • Constructed elevated water tanks for consistent supply

  • Enabled handwashing stations at schools and training centers

Safe Sanitation Facilities

  • Built separate toilets for boys and girls with proper waste drainage

  • Installed handwashing taps connected to rainwater harvesting systems

  • Promoted menstrual hygiene management through training and supplies

Hygiene Education for Young Mothers

  • Safe waste disposal for diapers, household waste, and graywater

  • Water treatment methods like boiling, solar disinfection, and chlorination for drinking water

  • Young mothers help organize cleanup days around schools and water points

  • They mobilize neighbors for sweeping, garbage collection, and unblocking drainage

  • These activities help reduce disease risks and instill pride in their neighborhoods
